Hello 👋🏻 my name is Grace Libby and I’m the hands (and 🩷) behind the chair!

A little about me—I’ve always had a passion for styling hair, but there’s something extra special about bridal hair. Being part of such an important day and helping brides feel confident, radiant, and completely themselves is truly an honor and is why I do what I do. I love creating soft, romantic styles that last through every hug, happy tear, and dance floor moment.

My journey into bridal hair wasn’t something I planned from the start, but looking back, it feels like it was meant to be. I always loved styling hair and watching YouTube videos on how to create different messy buns, braids, and hairstyles, but I never saw the hobby I did in my room as something I could do as a career. I wanted to be a second grade teacher and go out of state to college and oh how I’m so glad the life plan I had laid out for myself didn’t work out, because now, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

Couple fun facts about me:

- My favorite books are the ACOTAR series 📚
- I was homeschooled till the 9th grade 🎒
- My husband and I tied the knot in 2022 after planning our wedding in just 90 days so I definitely understand wedding planning stress! 💍
- I love Crab Rangoons so much so that I have told my husband I need a crab Rangoon in my sleep 🦀
- I love to go hiking, but need to take frequent snack breaks ⛰️
- My music taste ranges from Zack Top to Mac Miller, Morgan Wallen to Taylor Swift, and Noah Kahan to Billy Joel 🎸
- I love watching murder mysteries even though they make me paranoid 😵‍💫
- I love mocha coffees but my favorite is @selahteacafe cold jar with Dutch chocolate syrup 🍫

I got Voted Best of @zola !
When I was in school, there wasn’t many people who enjoyed styling hair like I did, including my teachers (I actually was asked to teach a hairstyling class while I was in school). I wanted to be a wedding hair stylist so bad I would save my tip money to buy education classes and I would stay up till midnight practicing the styles from the videos on my manakin doll. I think younger me would be really proud of how far I’ve come and how much I still have to offer! I’m so thankful to all of my wonderful brides last year who made it such an incredibly special season! This year I’m motivated more than ever with bigger goals to reach for! Thank you for allowing me to live my dream job every wedding season 🫶🏻

Why is it important to find an inspiration photo close to your hairs current color? Because It creates a realistic expectation of what your hairstyle will look like! These two photos are of very similar styles, but completely different hair colors! If your Pinterest is filled with those popular blond textured updos or the ones with intricate detailing, but your hair is a solid dark color, some of the texture and detailing that you loved about the inspo pictures won’t POP the same way.
If you wanting very visible texture, having some lightness in the hair, enhances definition, creates depth, and shapes visual interest.

Here is a list of things we are going to leave behind in 2024!
1.) Calling Glam Curls “Just Curls”
So glam curls aren’t just any curls. They require a tedious technique that requires far more time that just regular “Utah curls” or “beachy waves”. These curls also NEED extensions 90% of the time to achieve, again meaning I need more time to instal and prep the extensions.
2.) Not speaking up if something feels off
Morning you say to me will ever hurt my feelings! I would much rather you be honest with me so I can adjust it how your most comfortable, rather than you saying nothing and going through the rest of day not feeling amazing. That’d break my heart 😞
3.) Neglecting pre-wedding prep
I don’t send you a prep list just for fun! I want you to get the most out of your style and I’d hate to leave knowing your style wasn’t 100% and that it could have been if only you had followed my prep.
4.) Not having a playlist
This is a must! If you don’t have time to create a playlist, ask a bridesmaid who you know will bride the right vibes to create something. There is nothing more awkward that getting ready with no music. If there’s no music and everyone’s sitting in silence, get ready for me to ask to play some music 😅
5.) showing up late to your hair slot
“Sorry, I’m only 10 minutes late!” In 10 minutes i probably could have curled half of your head and now I have 10 less minutes to style you, meaning you might have to choose a more simplified style depending on how late you are.
6.) Getting ready rooms with no A/C
This is my vice…my palms get clammy as it is so throw me in a crowded room with people, multiple hot tools going, and NO A/C and I’m a sweating mess! It’s not me I’m so much worried about, but you and your party! In the humid and hot rooms without A/C, thoes face framing pieces and whispies are flat, sweaty, and stuck to your face. All the humidity from the room also causes a lot of frizz so forget that smooth led back style!

This venue is one my favorites to work at! It definitely helps that I grew up about 10 minutes away from the venue so when the after wedding hunger strikes, I get to raid my parents kitchen😈.

The venue I thought I was lost the first time I went:

This venue was one of the first weddings I did while I was still in cosmetology school back in 2020. Needless to say I was very nervous! I had never been to south Paris before and just assumed I’d be on the highway getting there, nope! I was on back roads the whole time and once I hit a town called “Chesterville” I Remeber saying “where the heck am I!?”Now I work there about every year and the drive is a piece of cake!

Indoor pool and hot tub, multiple balconies, spiral staircases, and a castle tower, this would be the most fun place to play hide and seek! I could spend all day exploring it!

For this brides trial run, we were able to see that though her hair is long, it has no problem holding those bouncy curls! We also wanted to add more volume in her crown area, because the BIGGER the BETTER! Because of her trial run, I could recreating her clean, big haired, glam look just the way she envisioned!
